Sanjay has worked with the television industry for more than 15 years. His last assignment [till February 2010] was with Aajtak News Channel where he was a part of the News Input Team. With a strong desire to play a stronger role in the social dimensions of society, Sanjay recently completed a six-month Diploma in Child Rights from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
He is a creative and sensitive documentary maker and was also associated with the documentary Virginity: Price or Prize, [Director, Mark Pestana] that won the third prize for Best Documentary at the New York Film Festival in 2001. He has also made documentaries on political subjects. As Head, Current Affairs, Eenadu Television (ETV) he directed two series ‘Ramkhand ni Jakad Ma’ (Gujarat after the Riots) and ‘Gandhi nu Gujarat’ (Gandhi’s Gujarat) for Gujarat Elections (2002) that traced the political scenario of the state.
All through his news career, he nurtured a sustained interest in the social dimensions of society which manifested through several documentaries that he made for international agencies including the UNHCR, UNESCO, Population Council, European Union and Plan India. He also made a show-stopping film, screened by Rotary International in Delhi, showcasing the work of the Population Council regarding the reproductive health of the women in the country.
A CSIR-UGC Research Fellow with the University of Delhi, Sanjay found his calling in television with the science programme ‘Turning Point’ in 1995.
